Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the action sequel John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Mark Dacascos, Anjelica Huston, Jason Mantzoukas and Ian McShane. The film’s original music is composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, 300, Watchmen, The Punisher) & Joel J. Richard (John Wick 1 & 2). Also opening wide is the family drama A Dog’s Journey directed by Gail Mancuso and starring Kathryn Prescott, Betty Gilpin, Dennis Quaid, Henry Lau, Marg Helgenberger and Josh Gad. Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, The Accountant, A River Runs Through It) has composed the film’s original score. Another wide release is the romantic drama The Sun Is Also a Star directed by Ry Russo-Young and starring Yara Shahidi, Charles Melton, Cathy Shim, John Leguizamo and Miriam A. Hyman. The film’s original music is composed by Herdís Stefánsdóttir. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Opening in limited release is the drama Trial by Fire directed by Edward Zwick and stars Jack O’Connell, Laura Dern and Emily Meade. Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class, Big Hero 6, Kong: Skull Island) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening in limited release is the drama Photograph written and directed by Ritesh Batra and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra. The film’s original music is composed by Peter Raeburn (Woodshock, Nancy). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Also opening in select cities is the crime thriller A Violent Separation directed by Kevin Goetz & Michael Goetz and starring Brenton Thwaites, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Ben Robson, Claire Holt, Michael Malarkey, Francesca Eastwood, Gerald McRaney and Ted Levine. Evan Goldman (The Den, Martyrs) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select theaters is the thriller We Have Always Lived in the Castle directed by Stacie Passon and starring Taissa Farmiga, Alexandra Daddario, Sebastian Stan and Crispin Glover. The film’s original music is composed by Andrew Hewitt (The Double, Submarine, The Stanford Prison Experiment, A Crooked Somebody). No word on a soundtrack release. Another limited release this week is the comedy drama The Professor written and directed by Wayne Roberts and starring Johnny Depp, Zoey Deutch, Rosemarie DeWitt, Danny Huston, Ron Livingston and Odessa Young. The National member Bryce Dessner (The Kitchen, Transpecos) & Aaron Dessner have composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been released. The dramedy premiered at last year’s Zurich Film Festival and is being released in theaters and on VOD this weekend by Saban Films.
