Will Bates (I Origins, The Path, Another Earth, The Looming Tower) is the composer of the upcoming Netflix original series Unbelievable. The show is developed by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, Pocahontas), Michael Chabon (John Carter) & Ayelet Waldman and stars Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever. The drama is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning article by The Marshall Project and ProPublica, An Unbelievable Story of Rape, and follows two detectives whose lives become intertwined in their mutual pursuit of a possible serial rapist. Grant, Chabon & Waldman are also executive producing the project with Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly (Justified, Masters of Sex), Katie Couric and Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are Alright) who also directed the first three episodes. Unbelievable will premiere later this year on Netflix.
Bates also continues to score Syfy’s The Magicians, which will return for its fifth season in 2020, The CW’s Charmed & In the Dark, both of which have recently been renewed for a second season and Starz’s Sweetbitter, which will return for its second season later this year. The composer has also recently scored the features Run with the Hunted and The Sound of Silence, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and has been picked up by IFC Films for a release later this year.
