Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album for the Swedish/Danish biographical drama Becoming Astrid (Unga Astrid Lindgren). The album features the film’s original music composed by Nicklas Schmidt (Department Q: A Conspiracy of Faith) who recorded his score with the Budapest Film Orchestra. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Becoming Astrid is directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen and stars Alba August, Trine Dyrholm, Maria Bonnevie, Henrik Rafaelsen, Magnus Krepper, Björn Gustafsson and Maria Fahl Vikander. The movie tells the true story of a character-defining period in the life of Pippi Longstocking author Astrid Lindgren and follows a teenaged Astrid as she struggles with being a young, unwed mother. The drama premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and was released in select U.S. theaters last week by Music Box Films.
