Stephen Warbeck has recently recorded his score for the upcoming drama The Children Act. The film is directed by Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal, Iris) and stars Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and Fionn Whitehead. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Ian McEwan (Atonement, On Chesil Beach, The Good Son) and follows an eminent High Court judge in London who is forced to deal with the case of a brilliant boy who, three months from his 18th birthday and still legally a child, is refusing the blood transfusion that will save his life. McEwan also wrote the screenplay. Duncan Kenworthy (Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill) is producing the FilmNation Entertainment and BBC Films production. Warbeck has previously collaborated with Eyre on the drama The Other Man, 2015’s TV adaptation of The Dresser and The Hollow Crown installment, Henry IV. The Children Act is expected to premiere later this year.
Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Billy Elliott, Quills) also has the drama Making Noise Quietly coming up. He also recently scored Joel Hopkins’ Hampstead starring Diane Keaton & Brendan Gleeson. The movie opened last month in the UK and will be distributed in the U.S. by the Weinstein Company.
