Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

loganGuaranteed to top the weekend box office is the comic book movie Logan directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen. The film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (The Wolverine3:10 to YumaScreamWorld War ZHellboyThe Hurt Locker). before-i-fallAlso opening wide is the teen drama Before I Fall directed by Ry Russo-Young and starring Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Kian Lawley, Elena Kampouris, Diego Boneta, Jennifer Beals, Cynthy Wu and Medalion Rahimi. Adam Taylor (MeadowlandAugust: Osage County) has composed the film’s original score. table-19Opening in almost 900 theaters is the indie comedy Table 19 directed by Jeffrey Blitz and starring Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, June Squibb, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori, Wyatt Russell and Amanda Crew. John Swihart (Napoleon DynamiteHow I Met Your Mother) has composed the film’s score. the-last-wordOpening in limited release is the comedy The Last Word directed by Mark Pellington and starring Shirley MacLaine, Amanda Seyfried, Anne Heche, Thomas Sadoski, Philip Baker Hall, Tom Everett Scott and AnnJewel Lee Majestic Dixon. The film’s original music is composed by Nathan Matthew David (SatisfactionAngie Tribeca). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as tracks by Al Lerner & Dick Haymes, Jody Reynolds, Witch & more. wolvesAlso opening in limited release is the indie drama Wolves written and directed by Bart Freundlich and starring Michael Shannon, Carla Gugino, Taylor John Smith, Chris Bauer and John Douglas Thompson. David Bridie has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. Wolves revolves around a 18-year-old basketball star who is struggling with his troubled father who has a gambling addiction. The drama premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is being released by IFC Films. lavenderAlso opening in select theaters is the thriller Lavender directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly and starring Abbie Cornish, Diego Klattenhoff, Justin Long and Dermot Mulroney. The film’s original music is composed by Colin Stetson Sarah Neufeld (Blue Caprice). No soundtrack album has been announced. junction-48Another limited release this week is the Israeli drama Junction 48 directed by Udi Aloni and starring Palestinian rapper Tamer Nafar and Samar Qupty. Nafar has also composed the film’s original music with Itamar Ziegler. A soundtrack EP featuring the music from the movie has been released today.
