Premiering tomorrow, February 27, is the ABC mini-series When We Rise created by Dustin Lance Black and starring Guy Pearce, Mary-Louise Parker, Rachel Griffiths, Michael K. Williams and Ivory Aquino. The show’s themes and music are composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland) and Chris Bacon (Source Code, Bates Motel). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring a suite from the composers’ score, as well as songs by Jordan Fisher, Fancy, Brandi Carlile and Zella Day. Also premiering tomorrow is the NBC drama Taken developed by Alexander Cary based on the Luc Besson-produced feature of the same title and starring Clive Standen, Jennifer Beals, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Gaius Charles, Michael Irby, James Landry Hébert and Jose Pablo Cantillo. Trevor Morris (Vikings, Immortals, The Borgias, Olympus/London Has Fallen) is composing the show’s original music. Premiering on Wednesday, March 1, is the NBC drama Chicago Justice created by Dick Wolf and starring Philip Winchester, Carl Weathers, Nazneen Contractor, Joelle Carter and Ryan-James Hatanaka. The show’s original music is composed by Atli Orvarsson (Vantage Point, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Edge of Seventeen) who is also scoring Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med is composing the show’s original music. Also premiering on Wednesday is the British mini-series National Treasure created by Jack Thorne and starring Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters and Andrea Riseborough. Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, Humans) has composed the show’s original music. Free Run Artists has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Missing from last week’s TV music roundup was the Netflix original movie I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore written and directed by Macon Blair and starring Melanie Lynskey, Elijah Wood, David Yow, Jane Levy and Devon Graye. The film’s original music is composed by Will Blair and Brooke Blair (Green Room, Blue Ruins). The comedy drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is now available to stream on Netflix.
