Cristal Records will release a soundtrack album for Francois Ozon’s drama Frantz. The album features the film’s original music composed by Philippe Rombi who previously collaborated with the director on such films as Swimming Pool, In the House, Young & Beautiful, Potiche and Angel. Also included the classical pieces from the movie by Chopin and Tchaïkovsky. The soundtrack will be released overseas on September 9, 2016. Frantz is written and directed by Ozon and stars Paula Beer, Pierre Niney, Marie Gruber, Ernst Stötzner, Johann Von Bülow and Anton Von Lucke. The movie is set in a small German town in the aftermath of World War I, where a young woman mourning the death of her fiancé forms a bond with a mysterious Frenchman who has arrived to lay flowers on her beloved’s grave. The drama will be released on September 7 in France. No domestic distribution deal has been set yet.

In the score for Frantz, could the names of the works by Chopin and Tchaikovsky be referenced. Also, to me it sounds like there are segments from Hitchcock’s “Vertigo,” score by Bernard Hermann.
