Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is the animated feature Finding Dory directed by Andrew Stanton and featuring the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O’Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton. The film’s original music is composed by Thomas Newman (American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Skyfall) who previously scored Pixar’s original film Finding Nemo. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the end titles song Unforgettable performed by Sia. Also opening wide is the action comedy Central Intelligence directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Amy Ryan, Aaron Paul and Danielle Nicolet. Theodore Shapiro (Ghostbusters, The Devil Wears Prada, Spy, Tropic Thunder) and Ludwig Goransson (Creed, Fruitvale Station, We’re the Millers) have composed the film’s original score. Opening in limited release is the horror thriller Clown directed by Jon Watts, presented by Eli Roth and starring Peter Stormare, Laura Allen, Andy Powers and Elizabeth Whitmere. The film’s original music is composed by Matt Veligdan. No soundtrack album has been announced. Clown follows a loving father who dons a clown outfit and makeup to perform at his son’s sixth birthday, only to later discover that the costume will not come off, and his own personality changes in a horrific fashion. The thriller is being released in the U.S. by Dimension Films and Anchor Bay Entertainment.
Also opening in limited release is the documentary Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made directed by Jeremy Coon & Tim Skousen and featuring interviews with John Rhys Davies, Eli Roth and more. Anton Sanko (Rabbit Hole, Ouija, Big Love, The Possession) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack album. Raiders! tells the story behind Chris Strompolos’ & Eric Zala’s fan film Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation. The documentary premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released in select theaters and on VOD by Drafthouse Films. Visit the official movie website for more information.
Also opening in select theaters is the romantic comedy No Stranger Than Love directed by Nick Wernham and starring Alison Brie, Justin Chatwin and Colin Hanks. The film’s original music is composed by Geoff Zanelli (Disturbia, Hitman, The Pacific, The Odd Life of Timothy Green). No soundtrack album has been released, but several tracks from the composer’s score can be checked out on his official website. No Stranger Than Love follows a a high school art teacher who begins an affair with a married high school football coach who disappears down a an inter-dimensional hole that opens up in her living room floor. The comedy is being released by Momentum Pictures in theaters and on VOD.
