Nathan Larson has composed the music for the HBO mini-series Show Me a Hero. The 6-parter is created by David Simon (The Wire, Treme) and stars Oscar Isaac, Catherine Keener, Alfred Molina, Winona Ryder, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Bob Balaban, Jim Belushi and Jon Bernthal. Paul Haggis (Crash, The Next Three Days) has directed all episodes. The series based on the 1999 book of the same title by New York Times writer Lisa Belki is set in the 1960s and follows a young mayor of a mid-sized city who is faced with a federal court order to build a small number of low-income housing units in the white neighborhoods of his town. Simon and Haggis are also executive producing the project with William F. Zorzi, Nina K. Noble (Treme) and Gail Mutrux (Donnie Brasco, Kinsey). Show Me a Hero will premiere this Sunday, August 16 on HBO. Visit the official show website for more information.
As previously reported, Larson has also scored Ken Kwapis’ A Walk in the Woods starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. The movie will be released on September 2 by Broad Green Pictures and a soundtrack album will be released by Varese Sarabande.
