Matthew Margeson is set to score the upcoming biographical drama Eddie the Eagle. The film is directed by Dexter Fletcher (Sunshine on Leith, Wild Bill) and stars Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman, Christopher Walken, Jo Hartley, Tim McInnerny and Ania Sowinski. The movie tells the story of ski jumper Michael Edwards who rose to fame as the very-last-place finisher in two events at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, but left as a scene-stealing poster boy for never-say-die underdogs everywhere. Simon Kelton and Sean Macauley have written the screenplay. Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, X-Men: First Class) is producing the project with Elizabeth Fowler (Devil’s Knot) and Rupert Maconick. Margeson has previously co-scored the Vaughn-directed Kingsman: The Secret Service and Vaughn-produced Kick-Ass 2 with Henry Jackman. Eddie the Eagle is currently in post-production and will be released on April 29, 2016 by 20th Century Fox.
As previously reported, Margeson also has the horror comedy Scott’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (previously entitled Scouts vs. Zombies) coming up.
