La-La Land Records has announced the world premiere official release of the score for the 2000 action thriller Shaft directed by John Singleton and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Vanessa Williams and Christian Bale. The album features the film’s original music composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Stargate, Casino Royale, Tomorrow Never Dies) who later reteamed with Singleton to score 2 Fast 2 Furious, Baby Boy and Four Brothers. The composer also incorporated the Academy Award-winning classic theme from the 70s films by Isaac Hayes into his score. Also included are a number of cues that were not used in the final version of the film. The soundtrack for the Paramount Pictures production is limited to 2500 copies and will be available to order on Tuesday, December on La-La Land Records’ website.
