Intrada Records has announced a new release featuring two soundtracks composed and conducted by Michel Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair, Never Say Never Again, Yentl). The album features the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1971 drama Summer of ’42 directed by Richard Mulligan and starring Jennifer O’Neill & Gary Grimes. The composer received one of his three Academy Awards for his work on the film. Also included on the 2-CD set is the complete score for the 1969 adventure The Picasso Summer directed by Robert Sallin and starring Albert Finney & Yvette Mimieux. Intrada has also announced the CD debut of two scores composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Chinatown, Patton, Planet of the Apes). The album features the composer’s music for the 1966/1967 Our Man Flint and In Like Flint starring James Coburn as secret agent Derek Flint and directed by Daniel Mann and Gordon Douglas. I read an article somewhere in which they listed the Top 10 composers by their worth. Jerry Goldsmith was #8, and I can well imagine why. These studios cannot release his albums fast enough!
