Premiering on Wednesday, December 4, is the new TNT original series Mob City created by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Walking Dead) and starring Jon Bernthal, Ed Burns, Neal McDonough and Jeremy Luke. The drama’s original score is composed by Mark Isham (Once Upon a Time, Crash) who has previously collaborated with Darabont on the features The Majestic and The Mist. The show is based on the real-life accounts of the cops and gangsters of Los Angeles in the 1940s and tells the story of the violent crime underbelly of America’s most glamorous city and those who wanted to control it. Also premiering on Wednesday on TV Land is the new comedy Kirstie executive produced by Marco Pennette, Jason Weinberg, Larry W. Jones, Keith Cox and starring Kirstie Alley, Eric Petersen, Michael Richards, Rhea Perlman and Gilles Marini. Ron Wasserman (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Hot in Cleveland) is the composer of the show, which follows woman as she navigates through life after her son that she gave up at birth reappears. The series will also feature guest performances by John Travolta, Jason Alexander, Cloris Leachman, Kathy Griffin and more. Kirstie will air every Wednesday night on TV Land. Premiering tonight on ABC is the Hallmark Hall of Fame original movie Christmas in Conway directed by John Kent Harrison and starring Mary-Louise Parker, Andy Garcia, Mandy Moore, Chery Oteri and Riley Smith. The film’s original music is composed by Geoff Zanelli (Disturbia, Into the West, The Odd Life of Timothy Green). The movie follows a man who builds a Ferris wheel in the backyard of his house as the perfect Christmas present for his wife, as he proposed to her many years ago. Airing on Thursday, December 5 on NBC is a live broadcast of the classic stage musical The Sound of Music executive produced by Craig Zadan & Neil Meron (Chicago, Hairspray) and starring Carrie Underwood, Audra McDonald, Stephen Moyer, Christian Borle and Laura Benanti. Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album featuring the studio recordings of all the musical numbers performed in the live broadcast composed by Richard Rodgers and featuring lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II on December 3.
