Four new movies are opening in wide release this weekend. Apart from Paranormal Activity 3, which is expected to top the weekend box office and doesn’t feature any original music, the following three movies are receiving a wide release:
The Three Musketeers directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom, Christoph Waltz, Matthew MacFayden, Luke Evans, Mads Mikkelsen, Juno Temple and Ray Stevenson features music by Paul Haslinger. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as Take That’s end title song When We Were Young has been released earlier this week by Milan Records. Also opening wide is the action spoof Johnny English Reborn starring Oliver Parker and starring Rowan Atkinson, Rosamunde Pike, Dominic West and Gillian Anderson. The film’s score is written by Ilan Eshkeri. A soundtrack CD including the score will be released on November 1 by Varese Sarabande. The album is also already available digitally on iTunes. The final wide release of the week is the sports drama The Mighyt Macs directed by Tim Chambers and starring Carla Gugino, Marley Shelton, David Boreanaz and Ellen Burstyn. The film’s music is written by William Ross. A score release in the works, but no details have been announced yet. The movie is based on the true story of the 1971-72 Immaculata College team that started in obscurity but became the original Cinderella story in women’s basketball. Opening in limited release this weekend is the indie thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene written and directed by Sean Durkin and starring Elizabeth Olsen, Sarah Paulson and John Hawkes. Alexander Jurriaans and Daniel Bensi have written the movie’s score. A soundtrack album featuring score and songs from the film has been released by Fox Music and is available exclusively on iTunes. Also opening in select markets is the thriller Margin Call directed by J.C. Chandor and starring Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Penn Badgley, Simon Baker, Mary McDonnell, Stanley Tucci and Demi Moore. The film’s score is written by Nathan Larson and no soundtrack album has been released. The movie revolves around the key people at a investment bank over a 24-hour period during the early stages of the financial crisis. Finally, also coming in out in limited release is the indie comedy drama Norman directed by Jonathan Segal and starring Dan Byrd, Emily VanCamp, Richard Jenkins and Adam Goldberg. Andrew Bird has written the score and songs for the film. Mom + Pop Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Bird’s music, as well as several songs from the movie.
