Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the crime drama The Bikeriders written and directed by Jeff Nichols and starring Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Norman Reedus, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Boyd Holbrook, Damon Herriman, Beau Knapp, Emory Cohen and Karl Glusman. The film’s original score is composed by David Wingo (Barry, Mayans, M.C., The Report, Our Brand Is Crisis, Kidding). Mutant and Back Lot Music will release a soundtrack album featuring thirteen 60s songs from the movie by artists such as The Sonics, Gary U.S. Bonds, Dale Hawkins, The Stooges, The Staple Singers, The Shangri-Las, Mickey Murray, among others, as a vinyl edition later this summer. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Exorcism co-written and directed by Joshua John Miller and starring Russell Crowe, Sam Worthington, Ryan Simpkins, Chloe Bailey, David Hyde Pierce and Adam Goldberg. Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, The Outsider, Tokyo Vice, Fear the Walking Dead, EnemyThe White Tiger, The Staircase, Boy Erased) have composed the film’s original music. Also opening nationwide is the action comedy Thelma written and directed by Josh Margolin and starring June Squibb, Fred Hechinger, Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, Nicole Byer,  Malcolm McDowell and Richard Roundtree. The film’s original music composed by Nick Chuba (Shogun, Dr. Death, The Girl from Plainville, Operation Varsity Blues, Appendage). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in New York and Los Angeles today before expanding nationwide in the coming weeks is the anthology comedy Kinds of Kindness co-written and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Hong Chau, Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer. Jerskin Fendrix (Poor Things) has composed the film’s original score. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Eurythmics, Dio, Cobrah and Qualley today. Opening in select U.S. theaters today is the refugee drama Green Border co-written and directed by Agnieszka Holland and starring Jalal Altawil, Maja Ostaszewska, Mohamad Al Rashi, Tomasz Włosok, Behi Djanati Atai and Dalia Naous. The film’s original music is composed by Frédéric Vercheval (The Pact, The Sower, This is Our Land, Secret Name). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past February. Also opening in limited release today before coming out on VOD on July 2 is the coming-of-age drama Chestnut written and directed by Jac Cron and starring Natalie Dyer, Rachel Keller and Danny Ramirez. Keegan DeWitt (Hearts Beat Loud,  A Teacher, I’ll See You in My Dreams, Love Again, Sorry for Your Loss, Divorce) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows an aspiring writer who becomes entangled in a relationship with a man and a woman during her summer after college, premiered at last year’s Frameline Film Festival and is being distributed by Utopia.

Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the French-Canadian comedy drama Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (Vampire humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant) co-written and directed by Ariane Louis-Seize and starring Sara Montpetit, Félix-Antoine Bénard, Steve Laplante, Noémie O’Farrell, Marie Brassard, Sophie Cadieux, Marc Beaupré and Patrick Hivon. The film’s original music is composed by Pilou (aka Pierre-Philippe Côté) (RavenousNot Okay, An Eye for Beauty). MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past March when the movie opened in France. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Apple TV+ next Friday, June 28, is the drama Fancy Dance co-written and directed by Erica Tremblay and starring Lily Gladstone, Isabel Deroy-Olson, Shea Whigham, Ryan Begay and Audrey Wasilewski. Singer/songwriter Samantha Crain has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The movie, which follows a Native American hustler who kidnaps her niece from the child’s white grandparents following her sister’s disappearance, premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival before being picked up by Apple TV+ for a worldwide release.

Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the supernatural thriller Blackwater Lane directed by Jeff Celentano and starring Minka Kelly, Maggie Grace and Dermot Mulroney. The film’s original music is composed by Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Watcher, SwallowEmily the Criminal, In the Same Breath, Minding the Gap, Consecration). No word on a soundtrack release.
