Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Emily the Criminal, Watcher, Swallow In the Same Breath, Consecration, Minding the Gap) has provided the original score for the new supernatural thriller Blackwater Lane. The film is directed by Jeff Celentano (The Hill, Gunshy) and stars Minka Kelly, Maggie Grace and Dermot Mulroney. The movie is based on the bestselling novel The Breakdown by B.A. Paris and follows a young woman is visited by a ghostly presence after witnessing a tragedy on a dangerous country road and begins to question her sanity as these otherworldly experiences intensify. Elizabeth Fowler (Official Secrets, Devil’s Knot) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Shaun Sanghani (The Fallout, The Last Full Measure), Warren Ostergard (The Bagman, 9/11) and Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar (Boudica: Queen of War, War Blade). Blackwater Lane will be released in select theaters and on VOD on June 21 by Lionsgate.

Halpern’s other recent projects include Josh Greenbaum’s documentary Will & Harper, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will premiere on Netflix later this year, as well as Austin Stark’s & Joseph Schuman’s comedy Coup! (starring Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Magnussen & Sarah Gadon), which premiered at last year’s Venice International Film Festival’s Giornate Degli Autori and has been picked up by Greenwich Entertainment for a U.S. release later this year.
