Warner Classics has released a soundtrack album for the French biographical drama Boléro (Boléro – Le mystère Ravel). The album features the music from the film written by Maurice Ravel, as well as pieces by Frédéric Chopin and Alexandre Tharaud. Bolero is co-written and directed by Anne Fontaine and stars Raphael Personnaz, Doria Tillier, Emmanuelle Devos, Jeanne Balibar and Vincent Perez. The movie, which is set in the roaring 1920s, follows Russian choreographer/dancer Ida Rubinstein as she selects Ravel to compose the music for her next ballet and the explores the birth of the renowned titular composition. The drama premiered at this year’s Rotterdam Film Festival and will be released in French theaters this Wednesday, March 6. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
