Jérôme Rebotier (The Fantastic Journey of Margot and MargueriteSahara, About Joan, The Best Is Yet to ComeWhat’s in a Name?) has been hired to score the upcoming French action adventure The Count of Monte Cristo (Le Comte de Monte-Cristo). The film is written and directed by Matthieu Delaporte & Alexandre de La Patellière (who recently wrote the screenplay for last year’s French language 2-part adaptation of The Three Musketeers) and stars Pierre Niney, Bastien Bouillon, Anaïs Demoustier, Laurent Lafitte and Anamaria Vartolomei. The movie based on the classic novel of the same title by Alexandre Dumas tells the story of Edmond Dantès who – after spending fourteen years in the island prison of Château d’If for a crime he didn’t commit – manages a daring escape and assumes the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo to exact his revenge on the three men who betrayed him. Dimitri Rassam (The Little Prince, Upside Down) is producing the Chapter 2 and Pathé production. The Count of Monte Cristo is set to be released in French theaters on June 28, 2024.
