Update: December 7: Dave Porter (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Blacklist) has confirmed to be the new composer of the show.

Update: July 31 & August 1: Mato Wayuhi appears to not be involved in scoring the project anymore and might have left the production since the original announcement (quoted below) has been made.

Original article: Native American hip-hop artist/composer Mato Wayuhi (Reservation Dogs) has been tapped to score Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ limited series Echo. The show is directed by Sydney Freeland & Catriona McKenzie and stars Alaqua Cox (who reprises her role of Echo/aka Maya Lopez from 2021’s Hawkeye), as well as Chaske Spencer, Devery Jacobs, Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene and Zahn McClarnon. The 6-parter tells the origin story of the title character whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. Showrunner Marion Dayre is executive producing the Marvel Studios and 20th Television production with Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther), Louis D’Esposito (WandaVision, Loki), Brad Winderbaum (Thor: Love and Thunder, Secret Invasion), Stephen Broussard (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Richie Palmer and Jason Gavin. News of Wayuhi’s involvement was first announced earlier this year when he signed with CAA. Echo is set to premiere on November 29, 2023 on Disney+.

Wayuhi also continues to score FX’s Reservation Dogs, which will return for its third season this coming Wednesday, August 2. He also recently co-scored Riley Keough & Gina Gammell’s War Pony, which just opened in select theaters yesterday.
