2023 BAFTA Awards Original Score Longlist Announced

bafta1The British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) today revealed the longlists for the EE British Academy Film Awards in 2023. This longlisting round was introduced in 2021 resulting in three rounds of voting. Round One voting produced the longlists in all categories announced today. Round Two voting, to determine the nominations, is now open to BAFTA’s voting members and will close on January 13. The nominations for the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2023 will be announced on January 19 and the ceremony will take place on February 19.

Here’s the longlist in the Original Score category:

All Quiet on the Western Front – Volker Bertelmann
Babylon – Justin Hurwitz
The Banshees of Inisherin – Carter Burwell
The Batman – Michael Giacchino
Empire of Light – Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross
Everything Everywhere All At Once – Son Lux
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery – Nathan Johnson
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio – Alexandre Desplat
Tár – Hildur Guðnadóttir
Women Talking – Hildur Guðnadóttir
The Wonder – Matthew Herbert

11 films will advance in the Original Score category. Members of the Music chapter vote to determine the longlist and the nominations. Visit BAFTA’s official website to check out all longlists.

    I think Carter Burwell will win an BAFTA award for the Best Original Score from “The Banshees of Inisherin”. He’s the best. Carter Burwell is the best.
