The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this week is the action thriller Memory directed by Martin Campbell and starring Liam Neeson, Guy Pearce, Monica Bellucci, Taj Atwal, Ray Fearon, Harold Torres and Ray Stevenson. The film’s original music is composed by Rupert Parkes (aka Photek) (How to Get Away with Murder, Station 19The ProtegeGang RelatedLife in a Year, Mosul). Music.Film Recordings/Lakeshore Records have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in limited release is the Finnish horror drama Hatching (Pahanhautoja) directed by Hanna Bergholm and starring Siiri Solalinna, Sophia Heikkilä and Jani Volanen. Stein Berge Svendsen (The Crossing, Happy, Happy) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follow a 12-year girl who is desperate to please her mother, a woman obsessed with presenting the image of a perfect family, who finds a strange egg. premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released in the U.S. by IFC Midnight.

Also opening in select theaters is the romantic comedy The Sound of Violet written and directed by Allen Wolf  and starring Cason Thomas, Cora Cleary, Jan D’Arcy, Kaelon Christopher and Malcolm J. West. The film’s original music is composed by Conrad Pope (My Week with MarilynTim’s Vermeer, Pavilion of Women, In My Sleep). Morning Star Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this month. Also opening in select U.S. theaters today before coming out on VOD next Friday, May 6 is the French romantic comedy Anaïs in Love (Les amours d’Anaïs) written and directed by Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet and starring Anaïs Demoustier, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Jean-Charles Clichet, Denis Podalydès, Xavier Guelf and Christophe Montenez. Nicola Piovani (Life Is Beautiful, Pinocchio, The Best Years, The Tiger and the SnowThe TraitorHungry Hearts) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which follows a spirited young woman who falls in love with the novelist wife of the man with whom she’s having an affair, opened in French theaters last year and is being distributed in the U.S. by Magnolia Pictures.

Also opening in limited release is the Canadian drama Peace by Chocolate co-written and directed by Jonathan Keijser and starring Hatem Ali, Ayham Abou Ammar, Mark Camacho, Yara Sabri and Kathryn Kirkpatrick. The film’s original music is composed by David Bertok (For the Love of GeorgeThe Wedding InvitationBotero). Everlight Entertainment has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today.
