Germaine Franco has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Tag. The film is directed by Jeff Tomsic and stars Ed Helms, Jeremy Renner, Hannibal Buress, Annabelle Wallis, Isla Fisher, Jake Johnson, Jon Hamm, Rashida Jones and Leslie Bibb. The movie is based on a true story featured in the Wall Street Journal about a group of friends who have been playing a no-holds-barred version of the children’s game Tag for the last 30 years. Mark Steilen and Rob McKittrick have written the screenplay. Steilen is also producing the New Line Cinema production with Todd Garner (Knight and Day, Paul Blart: Mall Cop). Tag is set to be released on June 15, 2018 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Franco whose previous scoring credits include Dope and Shovel Buddies and who has also contributed songs to Pixar’s Coco also has the Starz original series Vida coming up. The show is created by Tanya Saracho and stars Melissa Barrera, Mishel Prada, Karen Ser Anzoategui, Chelsea Rendon, Carlos Miranda and Maria Elena Laas. The comedy two Mexican-American sisters from the Eastside of Los Angeles who are forced to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and shocking truth about their mother’s identity. Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine, Loving), Robin Schwartz and Stephanie Langhoff (Safety Not Guranteed, The Skeleton Twins) are executive producing the Lionsgate Television production. Vida will premiere on May 6, 2018 on Starz.
