Tyler Bates has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller 7500. The film is directed by Takashi Shimizu and stars Leslie Bibb, Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart and Jamie Chung. The movie follows a group of passengers who encounter what appears to be a supernatural force while on a transpacific flight. Craig Rosenberg (The Uninvited, After the Sunset) has written the screenplay and Taka Ichise (Ring, The Grudge) and Roy Lee (The Strangers, The Lake House) are producing the project. Shimizu has previously worked with composer Christopher Young on his previous two major American features The Grudge and The Grudge 2. 7500 is expected to be released in 2013 by CBS Films. Bates has also recently completed the score for the thriller Not Safe for Work. The film is directed by Joe Johnston and centers on a young paralegal who is trapped in an office with a killer on a secret mission to destroy files and anyone that stands in his path. Max Minghella, Eloise Mumford, JJ Feild, Brandon Keener and Christian Clemenson are starring in the movie, which is written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is producing the project for Blumhouse Productions. Johnston’s previous musical collaborators include such A-List composers as James Horner (Jumanji, The Rocketeer), James Newton Howard (Hidalgo), Alan Silvestri (Captain America: The First Avenger), Danny Elfman (The Wolfman) and Mark Isham (October Sky). Not Safe for Work marks the director’s first collaboration with Bates. The film is expected to be released next year.
The composer is also scoring the video game God of War: Ascension,the seventh installment in the God of War series and a prequel to the entire series. The video game is developed by SCE Santa Monica Studio is set to be released in North America on March 12, 2013 for Playstation 3 by Sony Computer Entertainment.
