Dario Marianelli has scored the upcoming comedy Quartet. The film marks the directorial debut of Dustin Hoffman and stars Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Michael Gambon and Pauline Collins. The movie tells the story of a group of retired opera singers who each year stage an opera to raise funds for the home in which they reside. Ronald Harwood (The Pianist, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) has written the screenplay based on his own play and Finola Dwyer (An Education) and Stewart Mackinnon (the upcoming The Invisible Woman) are producing the comedy.  The music was recorded at Angel Studios in London.The Weinstein Company has picked up domestic rights for Quartet. No release date has been announced yet, but the film will be premiering at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
