The only new movie opening nationwide this weekend is the action adventure Maze Runner: The Death Cure directed by Wes Ball and starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, Barry Pepper, Will Poulter and Patricia Clarkson. The film’s original music is composed by John Paesano (Daredevil, The Defenders, When the Game Stands Tall, My All American) who also scored the first two installments in the series. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Check out our soundtrack announcement for the full album details.
Opening in limited release is the comedy drama Please Stand By directed by Ben Lewin and starring Dakota Fanning, Toni Collette, Alice Eve and Patton Oswalt. Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Minions, The Smurfs, If I Stay, Beverly Hills Chihuahua) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie follows a young autistic woman who runs away from her caregiver in order to boldly go and deliver her 500-page Star Trek script to a writing competition in Hollywood.
