Mark Bradshaw has recently composed the music for the drama The Daughter. The film marks the feature directorial debut of theatre director Simon Stone and stars Paul Schneider, Ewen Leslie, Geoffrey Rush, Mirando Otto, Anna Torv, Odessa Young and Sam Neill. The movie follows a man who returns home to discover a long-buried family secret and whose attempts to put things right threaten the lives of those he left years before. Stone also wrote the screenplay. Jan Chapman (The Piano, Holy Smoke) and Nicole O’Donohue are producing the Fate Films production.

Mark Bradshaw to Score ‘Testament of Youth’
Mark Bradshaw has been hired to score the upcoming historical drama Testament of Youth. The film is directed by James Kent (The Thirteenth Tale, The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister) and stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harrington, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Joanna Scanlan, Hayley Atwell, Jonathan Bailey, Alexandra Roach and Anna Chancellor. The BBC Films production is based on the autobiography of Vera Brittain and tells the story of the British writer and pacifist who postponed her studies at Oxford University during World War I to serve as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse in London, Malta and France. Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls) has adapted the material for the screen.
‘Top of the Lake’ Soundtrack Relased
See-Saw Films has released a soundtrack album for BBC’s and the Sundance Channel’s mini-series Top of the Lake. The album features the original score from the seven-part series composed by Mark Bradshaw (Bright Star). Also included are songs by Howlin’ Wolf, Smokie, Straitjacket Fits, Georgi Kay and Split Enz. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Mark Bradshaw has been hired to score BBC’s and Sundance Channel’s mini-series Top of the Lake. The seven-part series is helmed by Academy Award-winning director Jane Campion (The Piano) and Australian director Garth Davis and stars Elisabeth Moss, Holly Hunter, Peter Mullan and David Wenham. The drama is set in New Zealand and follows the disappearance of a five-months pregnant 12-year-old girl who was last seen standing chest-deep in a frozen lake. Emile Sherman & Iain Canning (The King’s Speech, Shame) are producing the project for See-Saw Films and Philippa Campbell (Black Sheep) is producing for Escapade Pictures. Campion has written the teleplay with Gerard Lee (Sweetie).
Mark Bradshaw to Score ‘Resistance’
Mark Bradshaw has signed on to score the upcoming World War II drama Resistance. The film based on a novel by Owen Sheer takes place in an alternative 1944, where Russia has fallen to Nazi Germany and the D-Day landings have failed. The story centers on a group of women in an isolated Welsh village who wake up to discover all of the their husbands have mysteriously vanished. The movie is directed by Amit Gupta and stars Andrea Riseborough, Tom Wlaschiha and Michael Sheen. Richard Holmes (Waking Ned Devine, Eden Lake) and Amanda Faber are producing. Rachel Portman was originally attached to score the project as reported by the Hollywood Reporter last fall, but had to leave the production due to a scheduling conflict.
