John Paesano has been hired to score the pilot for NBC’s untitled Rand Ravich Project. The conspiracy thriller created by Ravich (writer/director of The Astronaut’s Wife, creator of Life) stars Dermot Mulroney, Gillian Anderson, Rachael Taylor, Lance Gross, Halston Sage, Max Martini and Joshua Erenberg. The show follows an unlikely puppeteer who will bring everyone from CEOs to the president of the United States to their knees by threatening the things they hold most dear. Phillip Noyce (Salt, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games) is directing the pilot episode. Ravich has written the script for the pilot and is executive producing the project with Far Shariat (Life). NBC is expected to announce in May if the pilot will be picked up to series.

‘Wreck-It-Ralph’ Wins Annie Award for Best Music
Composer Henry Jackman, Skrillex, Adam Young, Matthew Thiessen, Jamie Houston and Yasushi Akimoto have received the Annie Award in the Music in an Animated Feature Production category for their music for Disney’s animated movie Wreck-It-Ralph. The other contenders in the category were Alexandre Desplat for Rise of the Guardians, Bruce Retief for Adventures in Zambezia, Joel McNeely, Brendan Milburn & Valerie Vigoda for Secret of the Wings, John Powell, Adam Schlesinger & Ester Dean for Ice Age: Continental Drift, John Powell & Cinco Paul for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Mark Mothersbaugh for Hotel Transylvania and Patrick Doyle, Mark Andrews & Alex Mandel for Brave. Wreck-It-Ralph also won four other Annies, including Best Animated Feature and Directing in a Feature Production.

Earlier this past week, the Cartoon Network premiered Dreamworks Animation’s Dragons: Riders of Berk based on the Academy Award-nominated hit film How to Train Your Dragon. The show’s voice talent includes the cast from the movie, including Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and T. J. Miller. John Paesano (Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas) is composing the series’ music and is incorporating John Powell’s themes from the feature version into his score. The first episode is available to download for free on iTunes and the show airs every Tuesday night on the Cartoon Network. John Paesano to Score ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ TV Series
John Paesano has been tapped to score Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming TV series Dragons based on the 2010 hit animated feature How to Train Your Dragon. The show follows the adventures of Hiccup, Toothless, and a community of Viking warriors, as they discover the world of dragons is a lot larger than they thought. It has been reported that the voice cast of the feature film, including Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and T. J. Miller will be returning for the TV version. Composer John Powell has received an Academy Award nomination for his score for the original film. Dragons marks the Dreamworks Animation’s first project for Cartoon Network. The show is set to premiere this fall.
