Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) will continue its support for the Sundance Institute and is collaborating with the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills to present two events exploring the role of music in film. On Sunday, March 30, at 2:00pm composer Peter Golub, director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program, will host Composers Lab: LA On Stage featuring BMI composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, Kingdom of Heaven) who will share insight into his creative techniques including a live demonstration of his work.

BMI to Present Composer/Director Roundtable at 2014 Sundance Film Festival
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) has announced the 16th annual Composer/Director Roundtable and 12th annual Snowball during the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, on January 22, in Park City, Utah. BMI’s roundtable entitled Music & Film: The Creative Process will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sundance House. The conversation will be moderated by Doreen Ringer Ross, Vice President, Film/TV Relations and focus on the relationship between composer and director. The participants will discuss what goes into creating a successful film score, the ingredients of an effective composer/director relationship, the Sundance Film Festival experience and more. Panelists include composer Craig Wedren and director David Wain of the comedy They Came Together; composer Blake Neely and directors Ryan White and Ben Cotner of the documentary The Case Against 8;
BMI Supports Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) continues its support for Sundance Institute’s Film Music program which has just launched its new collaboration with Skywalker Sound to host the Sundance Institute Music and Sound Design Labs at Skywalker Sound in 2013 and 2014. The Music and Sound Design Lab for documentaries ran June 3 through June 10, and the session for feature films will run from July 10 through July 25. This is the first time Sundance Institute and Skywalker Sound are collaborating to support independent filmmakers and film composers and marks a significant expansion of the Institute’s former Composers Labs to include sound design. At the Lab, Fellows work with a variety of Creative Advisors, a group of film composers, sound designers, filmmakers and film industry professionals.
