Quartet Records has announced the world premiere release of two scores from 1970s cult movies from American International Pictures. The album features the original music from the 1976 sci-fi thriller The Food of the Gods written and directed by Bert I. Gordon and starring Marjoe Gortner, Pamela Franklin, Ralph Meeker & Jon Cypher composed by Elliot Kaplan (Fantasy Island, Cry Blood, Apache, Then Came Bronson, Voyagers), as well as the score from the 1972 horror film Frogs directed by George McCowan and starring Ray Milland, Sam Elliott, Joan Van Ark, Adam Roarke & Judy Pace composed by Les Baxter (House of Usher, Black Sunday, The Beast Within, Baron Blood). Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1969 drama De Sade directed by Cy Endfield and starring Keir Dullea, Senta Berger, Lilli Palmer, John Huston, Anna Massey and Sonja Ziemann. The album features the complete original score from the American International Pictures production composed and conducted by Billy Strange (who is best known as a songwriter of hits including Elvis Presley’s A Little Less Conversation) and performed by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, including previously unreleased music, as well as several alternate tracks.
