Netflix Music has released a soundtrack album for the Icelandic Netflix original series Katla. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Högni (aka Högni Egilsson) . Katla is created by Baltasar Kormákur & Sigurjón Kjartansson and stars Guðrún Eyfjörð, Íris Tanja Flygenring, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Aliette Opheim, Sólveig Arnarsdóttir, Þorsteinn Bachmann and Björn Thors. The 8-part sci-fi/mystery drama centers on the eruption of the titular subglacial volcano that turns a nearby community’s world upside down as mysteries begin to emerge from the ice. The film is directed by Oliver Parker (The Importance of Being Earnest, Johnny English Reborn) and stars Michael Caine, Glenda Jackson and John Standing. The movie is inspired by true events and tells the story of octogenarian Bernard Jordan’s escape from his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in France. Walt Disney Records has released a new soundtrack EP for the Disney+ animated shorts series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. The 6-track EP features five new original songs from the show written by series composer Christopher Willis (The Death of StalinThe Personal History of David Copperfield, Schmigadoon!), as well as new version of the Mickey Mouse Club March produced by Willis. Jim Parker (1934-2023)

Jim Parker has passed away at age 88. The British composer was known for scoring over a hundred episodes of ITV’s Midsomer Murders (aka Inspector Barnaby), the first seasons of ITV’s Foyle’s War, BBC’s Born and Bred and BBC’s original 1990 House of Cards series (for which he received a BAFTA TV Award nomination) and its two sequels. He won four BAFTA TV Awards for 1993’s second part of the House of Cards trilogy, To Play the King, 1996’s 4-part drama The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders, the 1997 mini-series The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling and the 1998 TV movie A Rather English Marriage starring Albert Finney, Tom Courtenay & Joanna Lumley. The show is written by Nick Stevens (In Plain Sight) based on Balmer’s book Living with a Serial Killer and stars Anna Maxwell Martin and Shaun Evans.
