Sony Pictures announced today that record producer/songwriter (and son of Beatles producer George Martin) will serve as the executive music producer on The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event. The four films are directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and will star Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, as well as Saoirse Ronan, James Norton, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, Harry Lloyd, Lucy Boynton, Farhan Akhtar, Morfydd Clark and Harry Lawtey. Grian Chatten (of the post-punk band Fontaines D.C.) has also contributed music to the movie, which is directed by Tom Harper (Wild Rose, The Aeronauts), written by Steven Knight (Locke, Eastern Promises) and stars Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby who is driven back from a self-imposed exile and – with the future of the family and the country at stake – must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground.
