Milan Records will release a soundtrack for the eighth seaon of the Showtime original series Dexter. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s final season composed by Daniel Licht who has been scoring the drama since the first season. Also included are two original songs produced by Licht and performed by Jon Licht and David Poe, as well as live tracks from the Dexter Live concert. Also featured is Rolfe Kent’s main titles theme and the song Make Your Own Kind of Music performed by Mama Cass. The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released soundtracks for the previous seven seasons. A soundtrack album for the documentary The Battered Bastards of Baseball has been released. The album features the film’s original music composed by Brocker Way. The Battered Bastards of Baseball is directed by Chapman & Maclain Way and features appearances by Kurt Russell and director Todd Field (Little Children) who is currently developing a narrative feature based on the material. The movie tells the true story of the Portland Mavericks, a scrappy, independent baseball team of underdogs started by actor Bing Russell in the 1970s. The full details of the deluxe soundtrack edition for Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy have been revealed. The release features the content of the previously announced soundtrack entitled Awesome Mix Vol. 1 featuring songs by Blue Swede, David Bowie, Norman Greenbaum, Jackson 5, The Runaways & more, as well as the film’s original score composed by Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead). The composer’s score will also be released separately as a digital download. The deluxe edition will be released on July 29, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album features three original songs by Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch and performed by the film’s cast. Carter Burwell is set to reunite with director Bill Condon on the upcoming drama Mr. Holmes. The film stars Ian McKellan as Sherlock Holmes at age 93, as well as Laura Linney, Hattie Morahan, Patrick Kennedy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Roger Allam, Phil Davis, Frances de la Tour and Milo Parker. The movie is set in 1947, when an ageing Holmes returns from a journey to Japan and faces the end of his days, tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son.
