‘Lady Jane’ Soundtrack Announced

Quartet Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1986 romantic drama Lady Jane directed by Trevor Nunn and starring Helena Bonham Carter, Cary Elwes, Jane Lapotaire, Patrick Stewart, Sara Kestelman and John Wood. The 2-CD album features the original music from the Paramount Pictures production composed by Stephen Oliver. The composer’s full score, as well as source cues are featured on the first disc, and the content of a planned, but never released soundtrack album is included on the second disc. Adam Taylor is set to reteam with director Reed Morano on the upcoming sci-fi drama I Think We’re Alone Now. The movie stars Elle Fanning and Peter Dinklage as survivors in a world where humanity was wiped out in a mysterious incident. Mike Makowsky (Take Me) wrote the screenplay. Fred Berger (La La LandThe Autopsy of Jane Doe) & Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister, The Signal) are producing the project for Automatik, alongside Makowsky, Dinklage & David Ginsberg and Fernando Loureiro & Roberto Vasconcellos (Sweet Virginia). Premiering on Wednesday, July 5, is the FX original series Snowfall created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio & Dave Andron and starring Damson Idris, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson and Emily Rios. The show’s original music is composed by Jeff Russo (FargoLegionPowerThe Night OfCSI: Cyber). Dan Romer announced this week on Twitter that he has recently scored the upcoming Netflix original series Atypical. The show is created by Robia Rashid (The Goldbergs) and stars Keir Gilchrist, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Rapaport, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Amy Okuda. The comedy drama revolves around a 18-year-old on the autism spectrum, who takes a funny, yet painful, journey of self-discovery for love and independence and upends his family. Rashid is also executive producing the project with Mary Rohlich and Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, Baywatch, Identity Thief) who directed the first episode.  Read the rest of this entry »

Director Amma Asante revealed on Twitter that composer Anne Chmelewsky is currently recording her score for the upcoming period drama Where Hands Touch. The film is written and directed by Asante and stars Amandla Stenberg, George Mackay and Abbie Cornish. The movie takes place in Germany in 1944 where a 15-year-old girl, daughter of a white German mother and a black father, lives in fear due to the color of her skin and falls in love with the son of a prominent SS officer. The Roots have recorded the original song It Ain’t Fair for Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming dramatic thriller Detroit. The hip hop group collaborated with singer/songwriter Bilal on the track, which will be featured in the movie and on the official soundtrack album, which will be released by Motown Records later this month. Three new movies are opening nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the animated sequel Despicable Me 3 directed by Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda & Eric Guillon and featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate and Julie Andrews. The film’s original score is composed by Heitor Pereira (The Angry Birds MovieThe Smurfs) and Pharrell Williams wrote the movie’s original songs. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack featuring the songs (click here for more information) and Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack featuring Pereira’s score (click here for the full details).

Already playing in theaters since this past Wednesday is the action comedy Baby Driver written and directed by Edgar Wright and starring Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. Steven Price (GravitySuicide SquadFury, Attack the Block) wrote the film’s original score. Columbia Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by artists including  Simon & Garfunkel, Blur, Kid Koala, Sky Ferreira, The Beach Boys, T. Last night, the Television Academy presented its second live concert, Words + Music – A Concert Celebrating Music Written for Television. The event, which celebrated the importance of original songs and scores in television and was conceived and organized by Television Academy Music Governor Michael A. Levine, music director Rickey Minor and produced by Ben Carter, took place at the Saban Media Center’s Wolf Theatre at the Television Academy’s campus in North Hollywood. David Buckley is composing the music for the upcoming remake of the 1973 classic Papillon. The film is directed by Michael Noer (RNorthwest) and stars Charlie Hunnam, Rami Malek, Tommy Flanagan, Michael Socha and Nikola Kent. The movie is a modern retelling of the original, which was based on the memoirs of convicted felon and fugitive Henri Charriere. Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) wrote the screenplay. Joey McFarland & Riza Aziz (The Wolf of Wall Street), David Koplan, Ram Bergman (Looper, Brick) and Roger Corbi are producing the project. Mosley Music and Interscope Records have released the original song Truth to Power from the documentary An Inconvenient Sequel. The track is written by Ryan Tedder and performed by OneRepublic. The song is now available as a digital single on Amazon.
