The only movie opening nationwide this week is the horror thriller Winchester directed by Peter & Michael Spierig and starring Helen Mirren, Jason Clarke, Sarah Snook, Angus Sampson and Finn Scicluna-O’Prey. Peter Spierig (Predestination) has also composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the score is in the works and will be announced soon. The movie tells the story of the woman who began building the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California upon advisement from a medium. The film is being released by CBS Films/Lionsgate. Opening in limited release following an awards-qualifying run last year is the drama A Fantastic Woman directed by Sebastián Lelio and starring Daniela Vega and Hector Lavoe. The film’s original music is composed by Matthew Herbert (Life in a Day, Disobedience). Milan Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by Vega and Hector Lavoe. Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready has composed the music for the upcoming indie drama Sadie. The film is written and directed by Megan Griffiths (Eden, Lucky Them) and stars Melanie Lynskey, Sophia Mitri Schloss, John Gallagher Jr., Danielle Brooks, Tony Hale, Keith Williams and Tee Dennard. The movie tells the story of a 13-year-old girl who lives at home with her mother while her father serves repeated tours in the military. Lacey Leavitt (Outside In) and Jennessa West are producing the project. 
Dominik Scherrer has been tapped to compose the music for the upcoming Amazon/ITV original series The Widow. The show is created and executive produced by Harry & Jack Williams (Fleabag, Liar, Rellik) and stars Kate Beckinsale as a woman who has cut herself off from her previous life but is pulled back to the face that world after seeing her supposedly deceased husband on the news. Eliza Mellor (Liar, Poldark) is producing the 8-part thriller, which will be directed by Sam Donovan (Humans, Liar, Utopia) and Olly Blackburn (Donkey Punch, Glue). 
Flying Lotus is reteaming with director Eddie Alcazar to score the upcoming psychological thriller Perfect. The film starring Garrett Wareing, Courtney Eaton, Tao Okamoto, Maurice Compte, Abbie Cornish, Martin Sensmeier, Sarah McDaniel, Chris Santos, Leonardo Nam and Regan ‘Busdriver’ Farquhar centers on a young man with a violent past who enters a mysterious clinic where the patients wildly transform their bodies and minds using genetic engineering. Ted Kupper wrote the screenplay. 
Dubois Music will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix and BBC series Requiem. The album features the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award nominee Dominik Scherrer (The Missing, Ripper Street, Primeval) with Natasha Khan (aka Bat For Lashes). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 9, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on 
Universal Music will release the first score album for the NBC hit drama This Is Us. The album features selections of the show’s original score composed by Siddhartha Khosla (Runaways, The Royals, The Neighbors). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, February 2 and will be available to download on 
Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, Still Alice, The Young Victoria) is composing the original score for the upcoming ITV and Amazon original mini-series Vanity Fair. The show is developed by Gwyneth Hughes (The Girl) and stars Olivia Cooke, Tom Bateman, Suranne Jones, Michael Palin, Johnny Flynn, Martin Clunes, Frances de La Tour, Claudia Jessie, Simon Russell Beale, Claire Skinner, David Flynn and Charlie Rowe. The 7-parter based on Williams Makepeace Thackeray’s classic 1848 novel of the same title is set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, and tells the story of Becky Sharp as she attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English Society.

Nick Urata is scoring the upcoming coming-of-age drama The True Adventures of Wolfboy. The movie marks the feature directorial debut of Martin Krejci and stars Jaeden Lieberher, John Turturro, Chris Messina, Eve Hewson, Chloe Sevigny, Sophie Giannamore and Michelle Wilson. The movie revolves around a teenage boy who runs away from home in the search of his estranged mother. Olivia Dufault wrote the screenplay. Kimberly Steward, Josh Godfrey & Lauren Beck (Manchester by the Sea) are producing the project for K Period Media, alongside Declan Baldwin (The Last of Robin Hood) for Big Indie Pictures and Benjamin Blake for Heroes and Villains Entertainment.
