George Kallis has been hired to score the upcoming comedy Gutterbee. The film marks the second directorial effort of Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen and stars Antony Starr, Ewen Bremner, W. Earl Brown, Pia Mechler, Joshua Harto, Clark Middleton, Chance Kelly and Garret Williams. The movie follows two hopeless dreamers in small-town America who want to open the ultimate German sausage restaurant. Thomsen is also producing the project with Henrik Puggaard.

David Buckley Scoring Ric Roman Waugh’s ‘Angel Has Fallen’
Last week, David Buckley (The Good Wife, The Forbidden Kingdom, Papillon) has recorded his score for the upcoming action thriller Angel Has Fallen. The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh (Shot Caller, Snitch) and stars Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Jada Pinkett Smith, Michael Landers, Tim Blake Nelson, Antonio Bustorff, Danny Huston, Lance Reddick and Piper Perabo. The movie is the follow-up to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen & 2016’s London Has Fallen (both scored by Trevor Morris) and follows Mike Banning as he becomes the target of a terrorist attack, this time while mid-flight on Air Force One.

The film is directed by Karzan Kader (Bekas) and stars John Travolta, Shania Twain, Michael Madsen, Toby Sebastian, Rosabell Laurenti Sellers and Kevin Dunn. The movie centers on a down-and-out dirt track racing legend who is drawn back into the winner’s circle after his son joins a competitor’s racing team and incites a competition between father and son.

Anne Nikitin (American Animals, The Imposter, Calibre, Mrs. Wilson, This Beautiful Fantastic) has composed the music for the upcoming British drama Sulphur and White. The film is directed by Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane, Kinky Boots, Brideshead Revisited) and stars Mark Stanley, Emily Beecham, Anna Friel and Dougray Scott. The movie is inspired by the life of city trader and mountaineer David Tait, a man whose professional success masks a series of traumatic secrets. Susie Farrell wrote the screenplay.

Paul Haslinger has recently composed the original score for the upcoming Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt. The film is directed by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass: The Movie, Bad Grandpa) and stars Douglas Booth, Machine Gun Kelly, Daniel Webber, Iwan Rheon, Tony Cavalero, Rebekah Graf, Leven Rambin and David Costabile. The movie is based on Neil Strauss’ book The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band and follows the band’s rise to international stardom in the 1980s.

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Isbell is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Adopt a Highway. The movie marks the directorial debut of actor Logan Marshall-Green and stars Ethan Hawke, Elaine Hendrix, Diana Gaeta Marshall-Green, Betty Gabriel, Mo McRae, Chris Sullivan, Nate Mooney, Christopher Heyerdahl and Anne Marie Johnson. The film revolves around an ex-con who must learn to navigate the modern world while coming to terms with his own life, all while caring for an abandoned baby he finds in a dumpster.
Alan Menken & Stephen Schwartz to Write Music for ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ Live Action Movie
Deadline is reporting that Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, The Prince of Egypt) are set to write the music for a new live action adaptation of the 1996 Disney animated classic and Victor Hugo novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly, Tarzan) is writing the screenplay. David Hoberman & Todd Lieberman (The Fighter, The Muppets, Wonder) are producing the Mandeville production alongside Josh Gad who is in consideration to star as the lead character.
Patrick Doyle to Score Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Death on the Nile’
Patrick Doyle confirmed in a recent interview with The Scotsman that is set to compose the music for the upcoming film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile, the follow-up to Murder on the Orient Express, which the composer scored in 2017. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh who will also reprise his lead role as Hercule Poirot. Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer and Tom Bateman will also star in the movie, which follows Poroit on a luxurious cruise on the Nile River as he identifies a motley collection of would-be killers.
Germaine Franco Scoring Tina Gordon’s ‘Little’
Germaine Franco (Dope, Tag) is scoring the upcoming comedy Little. The film is directed by Tina Gordon (Peeples) and stars Regina Hall, Issa Rae and Marsai Martin. The movie centers on an adult woman who gets the chance to relive her carefree youth after the pressures of adulthood overwhelm her. Gordon also co-wrote the screenplay with Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, Barbershop: The Next Cut) based on an idea by Martin. Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like a Man) & James Lopez (Breaking In) are producing the project with Kenya Barris (Girls Trip, Black-ish).
Terence Blanchard to Score Kasi Lemmons’ ‘Harriet’
Terence Blanchard is reuniting with director Kasi Lemmons on the upcoming biographical drama Harriet. The film stars Cynthia Erivo in the title role, alongside Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles and Clarke Peters. The movie tells the story of iconic freedom fighter Harriet Tubman and centers on her escape from slavery and subsequent missions to free dozens of slaves through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity.
