Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, Birds of Prey, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ocean’s 8) has composed the original score for the upcoming Apple TV+ original series The Afterparty. The show is created by Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) and stars Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Dave Franco, Jamie Demetriou and John Early. The 8-part-murder mystery comedy is set at a high school reunion afterparty, with each episode featuring a retelling of the same night told through a different character’s perspective. Miller is also executive producing the TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television prouction with Phil Lord. Pemberton has previously collaborated with Lord & Miller on the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and is also scoring the film’s sequel, which is set to open in theaters on October 7, 2022. The Afterparty will premiere in January of 2022 on Apple TV+.
Pemberton’s other recent and upcoming projects include National Georgaphic’s Welcome to Earth (to premiere in December on Disney+), DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys (to be released on April 15, 2022) and the National Geographic documentary The Rescue, which just premiered at this year’s Telluride Film Festival and will be released in select theaters this October by Greenwich Entertainment.
