The film’s original score is composed by John Murphy (28 Days Later, Kick-Ass, Sunshine, Snatch, Millions). Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Amazon Prime on August 20 is the musical drama Annette co-written and directed by Leos Carax and starring Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard, Simon Helberg and Devyn McDowell. Sparks (Ron and Russell Mael) have composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring a selection of the songs from the movie today. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the psychological thriller John and the Hole directed by Pascual Sisto and starring Charlie Shotwell, Michael C. Hall, Taissa Farmiga and Jennifer Ehle. The film’s original music is composed by Caterina Barbieri. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which centers on a desperate game of survival that unfolds after 13 year old John traps his family in a hole in the ground, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by IFC Films.
Opening in New York before expanding to more markets next Friday (and also coming out on VOD on the same day) is the thriller Naked Singularity co-written and directed by Chase Palmer and starring John Boyega, Olivia Cooke, Bill Skarsgard, Ed Skrein, Tim Blake Nelson, Linda Lavin, Kyle Mooney, Robert Christopher Riley, Robert Bogue and Todd Freeman. Eskmo (aka Brendan Angelides) (13 Reasons Why, Billions) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. Opening in select theaters today before coming out on VOD next Friday, August 13 is the indie drama Swan Song written and directed by Todd Stephens and starring Udo Kier, Jennifer Coolidge, Linda Evans, Michael Urie, Ira Hawkins and Stephanie McVay. The film’s original music is composed by Chris Stephens. The movie, which follows a retired hairdresser who escapes his small-town Sandusky, Ohio nursing home after learning of his former client’s dying wish for him to style her final hairdo, premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released by Magnolia Pictures.
