Alan Silvestri is set to compose the original score for Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming new live-action film adaptation of Pinocchio directed by Robert Zemeckis. He is also producing and co-writing songs for the movie with songwriter/record producer Glen Ballard. Tom Hanks is attached to star in the film as Geppetto. Chris Weitz (About a Boy, Cinderella) is co-writing the screenplay with Zemeckis based on Disney’s 1940 animated classic and will also produce the project with Andrew Miano (The Farewell, A Single Man).Silvestri has previously collaborated with Zemeckis on all of the director’s features over the last 35 years, including Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cast Away, and most recently, on this year’s The Witches. Silvestri & Ballard have previously teamed up to co-write original songs for the director’s The Polar Express, Beowulf and A Christmas Carol, as well as the Hannah Montana movie and DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods. Pinocchio is expected to premiere in 2022 or 2023 on Disney+.

CALLED IT! Knew Silvestri would do the score. Zemeckis’ composer of choice is, of course, Silvestri.
This is as surprising as the sun rising each morning and that water us wet. Everybody knew Silvestri was gonna score it, so the all caps really was kinda pointless 😉
No matter how this movie will turn out, I’ll bet my bottom dollar Silvestri will score it with his trademark flair.
