Jeff Beal has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix documentary Athlete A. The film is directed by Bonni Cohen & Jon Shenk (The Rape of Europa, Audrie & Daisy) and explores Larry Nassar’s systematic abuse of young women on the USA Gymnastics team. The movie follows the team of investigative journalists from The Indianapolis Star newspaper who exposed the abuse led by Steve Berta, Marisa Kwiatkowski, Mark Alesia, and Tim Evans. Serin Marshall, Jen Sey and Julie Parker Benello are producing the project. Beal (House of Cards, Rome, Monk, Carnivale, Pollock, The Biggest Little Farm) has previously scored Cohen’s & Shenk’s last feature An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power. Athlete A is set to premiere on June 24, 2020 on Netflix.
As previously reported, Beal also has Oliver Stone’s docu-series JFK: Destiny Betrayed, as well as the documentary feature Console Wars coming up.
