The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the animated feature Abominable directed by Jill Culton and starring Chloe Bennet, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Albert Tsai, Eddie Izzard, Sarah Paulson and Michelle Wong. The film’s original score is composed by Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Legend of Tarzan). Opening semi-wide in around 450 theaters is the biographical drama Judy directed by Rupert Goold and starring Renee Zellweger, Jessie Buckley, Finn Wittrock, Rufus Sewell and Michael Gambon. Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack featuring the composer’s music will be released next month and will be announced soon. Opening in limited release is the comedy drama The Death of Dick Long directed by Daniel Scheinert and starring Michael Abbott Jr., Virginia Newcomb, Andre Hyland, Sarah Baker and Jess Weixler. The film’s original music is composed by Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull & Robert McDowell who previously scored Scheinert’s Swiss Army Man. No word on a soundtrack album. Also opening in select theaters is the horror thriller The Curse of Buckout Road written and directed by Matthew Currie Holmes and starring Evan Ross, Henry Czerny, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Colm Feore and Danny Glover. Ryan Shore (Prime, The Shrine, Star Wars Forces of Destiny, Julie’s Greenroom) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released today. Opening in select theaters before premiering on Netflix next month is the comedy The Laundromat directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, Antonio Banderas, Sharon Stone, Alex Pettyfer, David Schwimmer, Will Forte, Robert Patrick and Jeffrey Wright. The film’s original music is composed by David Holmes (Ocean’s Eleven, Out of Sight, Killing Eve, Analyze That, Haywire). No soundtrack album has been announced.
