Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1991 period superhero movie The Rocketeer directed by Joe Johnston and starring Bill Campbell, Alan Arkin, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Sorvino and Timothy Dalton. The album features the expanded score from the Walt Disney Pictures production composed and conducted by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, The Amazing Spider-Man, Aliens, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13), including more than 20 minutes of previously unreleased music. The 2-CD set features both the composer’s complete score, as well as the content from the 1991 original soundtrack album. For the full album details and to check out audio samples, visit Intrada’s official website, where you can also pre-order the album.
As good as the actual music is, the expanded release doesn’t suggest the previous release was missing much to deserve all the hype for unreleased materials that it’s generated through out the years.
I generally agree, but am also definitely interested in checking out this “expanded edition”.
