Composer Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of Narnia, Shrek, The Martian, Mulan, Man on Fire, Gladiator II,Kingdom of Heaven, The Meg, Chicken Run) is reuniting with actor/director Ben Affleck (Argo, Air) on the upcoming Netflix original film Animals. The movie stars Affleck himself, alongside Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Adriana Paz, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Ray Fisher and Matt Gerald. The thriller follows an LA mayoral candidate and his wife who scramble to raise the ransom when their son is kidnapped, while making choices that could tear their world apart. Affleck also co-wrote the screenplay with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, Breach). He is also producing the Artists Equity production with Matt Damon, Brad Weston (Queen & Slim, Footloose), Collin Creighton (Opus, She Rides Shotgun) and Dani Bernfeld & Luciana Damon (The Rip). Gregson-Williams has previously collaborated with Affleck on the features Gone Baby Gone, The Town (co-scored with David Buckley) and Live by Night. Animals will premiere on October 9, 2026 on Netflix and will also be released in select theaters on the same day.
Gregson-Williams’ recent feature projects also include Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, which will open in theaters on August 28. He also has Antony McCarten’s The Price of Peace, as well as the fourth season of HBO’s The Gilded Age (co-scored with Rupert Gregson-Williams) coming up.
