22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish period comedy The Dinner (La cena). The album features the film’s original music composed by Anne-Sophie Versnaeyen (La Belle Epoque, Mascarade, Bernadette, OSS 117: Red Alert in Black Africa, My Cousin, I Still Hide to Smoke). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list. Also listen to the composer’s title track after the jump. The Dinner is co-written directed by Manuel Gómez Pereira and stars Mario Casas, Alberto San Juan, Asier Etxeandia, Óscar Lasarte, Nora Hernández, Elvira Mínguez, Carmen Balagué, Martín Páez, Eva Ugarte, Carlos Serrano, Toni Agustí, Eleazar Ortiz, Ferrán Gadea and Antonio Resines. The movie is set in the turbulent aftermath of the Spanish Civil War during a grand dinner celebrating the nationalist triumph of Franco in Madrid’s luxurious Hotel Palace and follows a group of defeated Republican chefs who are secretly preparing the night’s menu while also cooking up their last chance to escape the country. The comedy premiered at last year’s San Sebastián International Film Festival and opened in Spanish theaters last October. No word on a domestic release.
