Dan Deacon (Hustle, Ascension, Twixt, Strawberry Mansion, Wedding Season, All Light, Everywhere) is currently recording his score for the upcoming superhero movie Venom: The Last Dance. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Kelly Marcel (Saving Mr. Banks, Fifty Shades of Grey) and stars Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham. The final installment in the Venom trilogy follows Eddie and Venom as they are on the run, hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, and are forced into a devastating decision. Marcel also wrote the screenplay based on a story by Hardy and herself. They are both also producing the project with Avi Arad (Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Into/Across the Spider-Verse), Matt Tolmach (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Hutch Parker (Logan, X-Men: Days of Future Past). Ludwig Goransson has previously scored the original 2018 Venom movie, while Marco Beltrami scored the 2021 sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Deacon has previously collaborated with Marcel on the Apple TV+ series The Changeling. Venom: The Last Dance will be released in theaters nationwide on October 25, 2024 by Sony Pictures.
Deacon’s other upcoming projects include Sydney Freeland’s Rez Ball, which will debut next month at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival before premiering on September 27 on Netflix.
