Eric Serra (The Fifth Element, Leon: The Professional, GoldenEye, La Femme Nikita, Lucy, The Big Blue) has provided the original score for the upcoming French Netflix original film The Wages of Fear (Le salaire de la peur). The movie is directed by Julien Leclercq (The Assault, The Bouncer) and stars Franck Gastambide, Alban Lenoir, Ana Girardot and Sofiane Zermani. The action thriller is based on Henri-Georges Clouzot’s 1953 classic of the same name and follows an illicit crack team who has 24 hours to drive two truckloads of nitroglycerine across a desert laden with danger in order to prevent a deadly explosion. Leclercq also co-wrote the screenplay with Hamid Hlioua (Ganglands) and is also producing the project with Julien Madon (Dalida, Brothers by Blood). The Wages of Fear will premiere on March 29, 2024 on Netflix.
Serra’s other recent projects also include Luc Besson’s Dogman, which premiered at last year Venice Film Festival and was released in French theaters last fall. Briarcliff Entertainment has picked up domestic distribution rights for a release in the U.S. on March 15.
