Chris Benstead is making his television scoring debut on the upcoming British Netflix original series The Gentlemen. The show is created by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, Aladdin) based on his 2019 feature of the same title (scored by Benstead) and stars Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Joely Richardson, Daniel Ings, Giancarlo Esposito, Vinnie Jones, Chanel Cresswell, Max Beesley, Michael Vu, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins and Peter Serafinowicz. The comedy drama follows a young man who unexpectedly inherits his father’s sizeable country estate, only to discover it’s part of a cannabis empire and host of characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation. Ritchie also directed the first two episodes and is executive producing the project with Matthew Read (Pusher, McMafia), Marn Davies and Ivan Atkinson, Miramax TV’s Marc Helwig, as well as Moonage Pictures’ Will Gould & Frith Tiplady (Peaky Blinders, The Good Karma Hospital). In addition to the 2019 movie, Benstead has also previously scored Ritchie’s last three features, Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and last year’s The Covenant. The Gentlemen will premiere this March on Netflix.
