David Klotz (American Sports Story, The Watcher, The Prom) is scoring the upcoming the upcoming FX original series The Shards. The show is developed by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) & Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, The Rules of Attraction) based on Ellis’ bestselling novel of the same name and stars Igby Rigney, Kaia Gerber, Homer Gere, Graham Campbell, Hayes Warner, Evan Rachel Wood, Wes Bentley and Jordan Roth. The drama is set against the vivid backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles and follows a group of privileged high school seniors at an elite prep school as they navigate identity, sex, obsession, jealousy, and the dangers lurking beneath the surface of American adolescence. Murphy & Ellis are also executive producing the 20th Television production with Nina Jacobson & Brad Simpson (Crazy Rich Asians, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbird and Snakes), Eric Kovtun & Scott Robertson (Blonde, Grotesquerie), Nissa Diederich (The Beauty, Doctor Odyssey), Tanase Popa (Love Story), Nick Hall (The White Lotus, We Are Who We Are), Michael Uppendahl (Candy, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox), Max Winkler (Flower, Jungleland), Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young (The Brutalist, Vox Lux). The Shards will premiere on August 5, 2026 on FX and Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in most major international markets.
Klotz is also expected to return to co-score the second season of Hulu’s All’s Fair.
