Isabella Summers (aka Isa Machine of Florence + the Machine) (Little Fires Everywhere, Lisa Frankenstein, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, KAOS, The Offer, Physical, Hitpig!) has composed the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film My Oxford Year. The movie is directed by Iain Morris (The Inbetweeners 2, Time Bandits) and stars Sofia Carson, Corey Mylchreest, Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, Esmé Kingdom, Harry Trevaldwyn, Nikhil Parmar and Poppy Gilbert. The romantic comedy drama is based on the novel of the same name by Julia Whelan and follows an ambitious American fulfilling her dream of studying at Oxford who falls for a charming Brit hiding a secret that may upend her perfectly planned life. Allison Burnett (Autumn in New York, Underworld Awakening) and Melissa Osborne (My Fault: London) wrote the screenplay. Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen (The Fault in Our Stars, he Maze Runner), Wyck Godfrey (Twilight series, I, Robot), Laura Quicksilver, Isaac Klausner (Smile, Love, Simon) are producing the project. My Oxford Year will premiere on August 1 exclusively on Netflix.
Summers other upcoming projects includeBen Gregor’s fantasy adventure The Magic Faraway Tree and Megan Nicole Dong’s animated feature Bad Fairies. She has also recently scored Pete Ohs’ The True Beauty of Being Bitten by a Tick, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date.
