Isabella Summers (aka Isa Machine of Florence + the Machine) (Little Fires Everywhere, KAOS, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, The Offer, Lisa Frankenstein, Physical) is set to score the upcoming British family fantasy adventure The Magic Faraway Tree. The film is directed by Ben Gregor (All Stars) and stars Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jennifer Saunders, Jessica Gunning, Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Phoenix Laroche, Billie Gadsdon and Rebecca Ferguson.The movie is based on the Faraway Tree series of children’s novels by Enid Blyton and tells the story of a modern family relocating to the English countryside, where the children discover a magical tree with eccentric inhabitants and are transported to spectacular and fantastical lands. Gregor has revealed in a recent interview with THR that Summers also co-wrote and original song for the project. Simon Farnaby (Wonka, Paddington 2) wrote the screenplay. Pippa Harris (1917, Penny Dreadful) and Nicolas Brown (Britannia, The Franchise) are producing the project for Neal Street Productions, alongside Danny Perkins (Greatest Days) for Elysian Film Group. The Magic Faraway Tree is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in UK theaters next year by Palisades Park Pictures.
Summers’ other recent projects include the animated feature Hitpig!, which has just been released earlier this month and is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
