Composer Rob Simonsen (Deadpool & Wolverine, It Ends with Us, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, The Way Back, The Age of Adaline, Foxcatcher, Nerve, (500) Days of Summer) is reuniting with director on the upcoming crime thriller Caught Stealing. The film starring Austin Butler, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Vincent D’Onofrio, Liev Schreiber, Benito A Martínez Ocasio, Griffin Dunne & Carol Kane follows a high-school baseball phenom who can’t play anymore and now tends bar at a New York dive who suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a motley crew of threatening gangsters when his punk-rock neighbor asks him to take care of his cat for a few days. Charlie Huston (Powers) wrote the screenplay based on his book of the same title. Aronofsky is also producing the project with Jeremy Dawson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fantastic Mr. Fox), Dylan Golden (Little Death) and Ari Handel (Jackie, Mother!). Simonsen has previously scored Aronosky’s last narrative feature, The Whale, and also collaborated with the filmmaker on the Sphere film Postcard from Earth (as part of the Echo Society). Caught Stealing will be released in theaters nationwide on August 29 by Sony Pictures.
Simonsen’s other recent projects include Pixar Animation Studios’ Elio, which will open in theaters on June 20.
It’s a shame the Mansell-Aronofsky collaboration seems to be over.
